Why You Should Join Our Coalition

Rescues, we are here for you!

Every day, rescues shoulder an enormous responsibility—stepping in where the system falls short. Across California, rescues save 16–20% of all shelter animals, lifting an enormous burden from overcrowded shelters and giving thousands of dogs and cats from the community a second chance. This work is hard, often thankless, and yet it is absolutely vital.

It’s time rescues are acknowledged, respected, and represented.

That’s why we founded Animal Rescuers for Change—a coalition built by rescuers, for rescuers, volunteers, networkers, and advocates working to confront California’s overpopulation crisis. Our mission is to bring your voice into the halls of power and ensure that California’s laws, funding, and policies reflect the real, on-the-ground work you do every single day.

By joining, you’ll stand with a growing movement committed to:

    • Creating Rescue Support Funds – to ease the financial burden of lifesaving operations.
    • Securing State Funding for Spay/Neuter – addressing overpopulation at its source.
    • Fighting for Rescue Representation – making sure lawmakers understand and support our role.
    • Strengthening Operations – building sustainability so rescues can keep saving lives.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we can make sure rescues are not just doing the work, but shaping the future.
